$30,000 School Cafeteria Makeover
November 18, 2013 – The Noles family, residents of Boaz, Alabama have been selected as one of the top three finalists in the Ben’s Beginners
Cooking Contest. The contest is a nationwide competition created by the UNCLE BEN’S® Brand
to help children make healthier eating choices by getting in the kitchen at an early age.
Nearly 1,000 videos were submitted as part of the contest which showcased families cooking in the kitchen together preparing a rice-based dish as part of the second annual contest. Sydney “Claire” Noles and her parents, Jason and Rachel,
will travel to New York City this week to appear on the “Rachael Ray Show” to talk about the importance of getting in the kitchen with your family.
The Noles family is asking their community to help them win the grand prize of $15,000 cash and a $30,000 cafeteria makeover for Corley Elementary School by having people vote for their video starting today at 12pm ET until December 8. Individuals can visit
and vote Crockpot Chicken and Rice Supreme once-a-day. The two runner ups will also receive $5,000 cash and a $10,000 cafeteria makeover for their schools.

Boaz Wal-Mart Surprises
Local Walmart representatives, Donna Steapleton and Stacy Westcott, surprised BES teachers on Friday with gift cards and cake as a part of Walmart's way of showing appreciation to educators within our area. BES teachers are truly thankful for being recognized by Walmart and appreciate all that our local store does for our schools and community.
Congratulations to our top two MoonPie Fundraiser Winners, Jayden Carr and Layla Jung. Jayden and Layla won new bicyles for selling the most moonpies.
All of our students worked very hard and earned over $4000 for our school. Way to go BES students!
