Child Find

The Special Education Department promotes opportunities for gifted and disabled students to participate in educational activities designed to help each student achieve maximum potential. A full range of services, meeting the needs of all identified and placed disabled students (Pre-K - 12), is offered in schools throughout Boaz City Schools. People who use telecommunication devices for the deaf may also access Child Find by calling the TTY Alabama Relay Service.  Child Find is a service of the Alabama Department of Education through collaborative efforts of its Division of Special Education Services, local education agencies and other education agencies. Through ongoing Child Find outreach efforts, the Department of Special Education is working to make physicians, social workers, parents, service providers and the general public aware of the need to identify all individuals who have disabilities and refer them to Child Find. Disabilities recognized by the State of Alabama include Autism, Deaf-Blindness, Developmental Delay, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech and Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury and Visual Impairment.
